..or dude.
It's officially off-season for Newcastle Roller Girls, so whilst i'm missing training and my teamies it's time to fill my nights with crafty endeavours in the run up to the festive season.
As every Christmas rolls around it is so apparent that people are moving towards giving the gift of home made produce and gifts, and tbh there is nothing better!!
What may or may not be on your side is time, and as the 24th rolls round you don't want to be sat up until the wee hours of the morning finishing off that Christmas jumper promised to your brother-in-law *true story*. (Sorry Danny)
Don't get caught up in the mental-ness of a commercial Christmas, relax make yourself a hot choccy & get crafting! Here are some personal top tips which I'm sure I'll be able to add a few more to by next year. You live & learn.
1. Time.. time.. time.. time.
This sounds so simple but ever the girl to leave things last minute, I've fallen in to the trap so many times. Give yourself enough
time to get your crafty project finished. It's all down to managing your time (which I'm rubbish at) and ultimately choosing a project
early if it's going to be a tricky one.
Alternatively if you've left your craftiness a bit late in the season pick something that is quick and easy whilst still giving you that staying in doors hibernation feeling whilst snuggled up to a ball of wool. Mm toasty.
2. Focus on one project!
Okay, I'm a total hypocrite with this one because I constantly have a million things on the go at the same time, but if you've got to have that present done for ol' St Nic arriving it's better off to focus on one thing, finish it & move on to something new. PLUS it feels awesome having the completed project before it goes off to it's lovely new home or makes it on to your mantel piece *it's too good to give away*!
3. DO NOT start anything else before you finish
Refer to point 2... and just keep swimming ..if you are making a million pompoms for a wreath & get bored of wrapping wool constantly and move on to something new, you'll be left with millions of pompoms with no purpose other than taking up every spare space, nook & cranny.
I believe in you!!
4. ENJOY!
Spending precious you-time making gifts for yourself and loved ones should be fun above all. Crafts can be relaxing, enjoyable and rewarding if you choose the right projects for you. Whilst a mermaid tail blanket would be the perfect crocheted gift, if you've never crocheted before it could soon turn in to a nightmare.. and you might not even like crocheting :o
(Just BUY IT. Spend allll your money on it. You need it in your life.)
